Aunt Sally and the Burning Red Eyes....a true Halloween tale =Oddy= |
My grandmother has told me this story many times, and she swears to me that it is true. Grandma refuses to lie about things, so I believe that it is the truth. Names have been changed.
20+ years ago......
An aunt of my Grandfather's was a bit of a recluse. Aunt Sally was a rather mean lady who never welcomed family or friends. She died alone in her house, but oddly, left the house to her nephew (my Dad's cousin, my 2nd cousin) in her will.
Will (my 2nd cousin), his wife Barbara, and children (Maggie and John) moved into the house. From the time that happened, many mysterious occurances happened. Most nights, sheets would be ripped off the beds of everyone in the house. Will described it as someone standing at the end of the bed, grabbing the sheets, and pulling as hard as they could. On many occasions, the kitchen cabinets would fly open when someone was in there. One particular night, Maggie was in the kitchen to get some water. Suddenly, all of the cabinets flew open. Maggie turned around and saw the refrigerator. On it, two red eyes were glowing back at her. She ran to Will and Barbara. They immediately left the house and went to Will's father (my great Uncle Joe).
They told Uncle Joe the story and stayed with him that night, too afraid to go back home. Uncle Joe did not believe them at all. He decided to go the next night and spend the night in the house.
He was asleep on the couch with a blanket when all of the sudden, the blanket was ripped off of him. He heard the cabinets opening and shutting, opening and shutting. Uncle Joe ran out of the house scared to death.
The next day, the house burned to the ground. To this day, we believe that it was Aunt Sally, still as mean as she was alive. Aunt Sally didn't want them there any more, or anyone else for that matter.... |

You know it's possible she wasn't mean as ya'll think and may have been haunting/scaring them to leave, cause she knew the house was going to burn. Just a thought. |

Darla, the thing about the glowing red eyes reminded me of one that thunderhead wrote a long time ago. It's the only story that ever really scared me on here. Didnt look at the replies to see if you commented, but here's the link....http://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm255457.html |

Reminds me of one day when I was little. I saw glowing red eyes in my parent's closet one night and I ran to my brother's room, because he was the only one awake. I told him about it, and he made up some story about a vampire living in that closet. I wasn't scared at all that night, because his story was too funny, whether it was meant to be or not. |

Hey PL, my Grandmother said that everyone would constantly try to be nice to her, but she just simply did not like others. It was one of those situations where no matter what you did, she just didn't like anyone. |

Ohh...spooky!
When I was a kid, some of my friends would tell me about the glowing eyes they'd seen in the basement. It scared them but not the oldest sister. She'd simply leave when the eyes appeared. I never saw them so I was never afraid either. But if I ever did see them, I may never have even gone to their house again! Hugs, |

When my godmother and god father were younger they lived in a house like that. Only this poltergeist only did things to have fun - not to hurt anyone. My mom used to stay at her house all the time and witnessed alot of the things this poltergiest did (his name was Guss) But she was not scared. She too thought it was funny - so she and guss had a wierd understanding of eachother. He would pull covers off people and rattle things around, make the cupboards fly open and shut, play with the light switches . . . ect. Now to this day, I have her personality when it comes to ghosts and so on - she raised me on Horror movies and stories(wich most parents wouldn't hear of.) I am not one bit scared of the otherworldlies. . . I love them. |
