"PUMPKIN CARVING NIGHTMARE"..... by RITZBE |
I was in the kitchen of my apartment carving a pumpkin for the girls at my video store. I was having a great time, reminiscing about Halloweens past, when I was a small child, many moons ago. I had already cut the top off with my big kitchen knife, and was now putting on the face with a pearing knife. It was really looking good! I was thinking back to last year, when I went in a full Batman costume, all the way back to when I was ten, when I went as a bloody faced Vampire.
I was now scrapping the insides of the pumpkin with a large spoon, clockwise, counter clockwise, back and forth, really scrapping it good. The newspapers underneath were beginning to crunch and bunch up, and I couldnt see my large kitchen knife moving closer to the edge of the table from the twists and turns of the paper. Suddenly it fell off, did a 1/2 turn like an olympic diver, and went straight through my shoe and my foot! AAHHH! I screamed in horror and as a reflex tried to pull my foot away, but couldnt because the knife was stuck all the way through, into the floor tile! I reached down and pulled out the knife, and a huge squirt of blood followed the sheath out. I fell to the floor cluthing my foot, screaming in pain!
My neighbor down the hall finally got to me and took me to the hospital. There they cleaned it out really good, disinfected it, and after 15 stiches on the top and 12 stiches on the bottom, they wrapped it up, gave me crutches and a prescription for painkillers, and I was sent on my way. They said it would take about 3 months for it to heal completely. Tonight I'm going to a Halloween party. I've changed my costume. I borrowed Magoo's military uniform, and am now going as a wounded foot soldier...

If you'd have tried, there's no way that you could have flipped that knife with such precision...Leave it to blind luck. Man, what a nightmare! But....You told it well, Ritzbe :) Hope you mend well. Write on....:) |
