NATIONAL THEATER, NORTHWEST WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA |
| Not long after this theater was built in the 1830s, a handsome young actor was slained by a jealous fellow thespian. The man buried the youth's body in the basement beneath the stage. During renovations to modernize the theater, the slain youth's spirit arose from his "grave". Members of the theater company admit to the presence of a "ghost" but are very protective of "him". One night watchman did confess to encountering the ghost in the old basement. Haunted Places,p.114. |
