Roman ghost baffles club (Video @ Link) |
People are debating whether it was a trick of light or a ghostly apparition that showed up on footage shot by a member of Outwood Community Video, in Wakefield, England. The spectral figure, said by some to resemble a Roman soldier, is seen on a path frequented by joggers.

A GHOSTLY apparition which appeared on footage filmed by an amateur video club has left members mystified. George Gunn, a member of Outwood Community Video, captured the mysterious figure while filming on a local footpath. It was not until he got home to edit the footage that he noticed the figure, which he said seemed to resemble a roman soldier.
Mr Gunn, 75, said: "It's too weird. I can't explain it. "I wouldn't like to say whether it is a ghost or not. "Some of the club members said it was a trick of the light but some thought it was definitely a ghost. "A lot of people have said it was flare from the sun. What I can't understand is that it was underneath branches. "There was a terrible breeze at the time and if there was movement above and around it that should have shown up on the camera, which it didn't. "I have had a camera a long time and done an awful lot of photography and I have never had flare on the lens before." The figure stands still in the picture before fading in and out when a pair of joggers move through it. Club members believed there had been a Roman settlement nearby.
Mike Hooley, 63, said: "At first I just couldn't believe it because I don't believe in ghosts. "I thought it must have been a trick of the light. "I can't see it being something to do with the lens. "We showed it to the members and one or two of them thought it was a ghost, but most were sceptical like me." He said the group planned to research the area's Roman history.

I watched the video (choppy on mine) and I can't see how that could be the light. That looks like a person to me. |

Very interesting. I believe in ghosts so I have no problem believing this is a video of a ghost. Skeptics and nonbelievers will always try to debunk supernatural proof. |

im not a skeptic but, you know nowadays, people can fool you with their computer's tools, i dont think it's an appartion though. :o) good post. |

I don't know what to think of that. I believe ghost exist and want to believe the video, but... I don't know about this one. Excellent post. Enjoyed it:) |

Thanks for the post SC! Hmm---- nooo idea if that was real or not. I think it was interesting that the image slowly became more solid though. Then faded in and out. If the video had been of higher quality I think I would have loved (amateurly) looking to see if I could find anything amiss. :) It'd be cool if this was a true apparition. And if it was... I wonder what the 'soldier' was looking at. |

I think it's not real,there was a break in the video,it was mot there before the break,but it was there after...so hmmm no I think it's not real
