Owls are cool birds. Hiya, Kiki Times.:) A couple of years ago, I was driving to the levee for my fitness walk and saw a white owl flying low over the highway. BANG! Right into the grill of an on-coming vehicle. I had seen the owl before and was really saddened by it's demise. I thought they were pretty rare. About two weeks later as I was finishing my walk, `round about sunset, I saw another white one flying into the treeline near the river. That made me happy.:) I think they're just a barn owl in white. To me, seeing a white one is good fortune. :) Good fortune to you then, my friend. Thanks for sharing and Write on..... |

Beautiful White Owls are associated with the Goddess Athena, Momma Kat! Owls
(Cailleach, Oidhche, Comachag)
The word "cailleach" in the Scottish-Gaelic means old woman!, "coileach-oidhche" is the word for owl, believe it or not it means "night-cockerel"! These birds were most often associated with the Crone aspect of the Goddess. The owl is often a guide to and through the Underworld, a creature of keen sight in darkness, and a silent and swift hunter. It can help unmask those who would deceive you or take advantage of you.
Owls are believed to have played a more prominent role in early Celtic cults, and could perhaps have derived from a more broadly based deity of a common European descent. Predating the Greek cult of Athene, for whom the owl was an animal attribute, were images of these mysterious birds in Celtic lands. It is a sign of Blessing from the Goddess who loves and watches over you!!

And for the record, Momma Kat-you share a birth name with a Goddess! I got chills when I read this. The kind I get when something very sacred happens. You were visited by an aspect of the Great Mother!!! {{{hugs}}} |
