Byberry Mental Hospital |
I'm curious to know who here has heard about Byberry Mental Hospital located in Philadelphia.
I've heard nation wide stories about how people were there or who know stories about it, but most likely they are just gossip passed down the lane.
I used to live right around the corner from the hospital until they knocked all the buildings down. I've been through the halls and lots of rooms including the morgue. It was interesting and very haunted.
One night after being in the buildings, I had a very odd dream that I was one of the patients. I was a woman patient. I was in a dark, glummy room. It was abandoned in the dream, but in my dream it was as if the place was still up and running. In my dream, I was sitting in an old fashioned type of bath tubs. There were lots of bath tubs in the room. No curtains, no stalls. I remember this because in my dream I was ashamed that I had to sit in this tub for so long, and there was a male patient next to me in the next tub. I seen the nurse too, but most of all it was a feeling of sadness and embarrasment, because I had to sit in a tub with men looking at me.
In some more personal site, you'll notice the name of a man that goes by GodDog. This guy is very well known in our neighborhood and dedicates his free time to research on "The Berry" I have to admit, there were some pretty good times there growing up. Check it out...

look it up they have lots of info on it. My brother has old documents from the patients. He was like a Byberry junkie and holds many many employee manuals, pots, pans, papers, all kinds of stuff. It's really cool. |

Creepy! Mental Hospitals (and regular ones for that matter) are SO Haunted! I think it is because of the extreme emotions that almost leave a psychic "fingerprint" behind. I tried for the longest time to get permission for our Nightwolf Group into "The Manors", in Tarpon Springs, Florida. It was an asylum for the wealthy & eccentric. (Al Capone spent time there while he was dying from syphllis.) I was this ---><--- close, till the Property was sold, and the new Management Compnay did not want "any bad publicity". The Neighbors had reported all kinds of activity, and one of the coolest/creepiest things about The Manors was everything was left IN the Hospital!!! All the beds, medical equiptment, bed pans, tubing, you name it! I really wish we had done that investigation!!! |

I've heard, and read about this place. I've always wanted to visit it. So all the buildings are gone now? If so, that's too bad. |

yes they are all gone now. They are making an over 55 community which is good. At least they wont make regular apartments, because that brings troublee |

I've never heard of it. Your dream was creepy, but way cool! I often have dreams where I'm someone else in another time and place. |
